He graduated from the Medical Faculty at the National University of Singapore in 1986 and obtained Post-Graduate Fellowships of the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh and Glasgow (FRCS Ed, FRCS Glasg) in 1990 and Fellowship of the Academy of Medicine Singapore in Orthopaedic Surgery. Dr Lee received orthopaedic sub-speciality training at the Mayo Clinic, USA and became the 1st Mark B Coventry Reconstructive Fellow at the Mayo Clinic in 1995.
